SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO) – Here’s a look at the top news as of 4pm on Friday.

The South Dakota Department of Health reported two new deaths on Friday, bringing the death toll to 2022.

The number of active cases now stands at 266 as 19 new cases of the virus have been reported.

A 3.7-magnitude earthquake was reported just north of the border near Anoka, Nebraska, on Friday morning.

This is the third earthquake recorded in South Dakota in 2021.

There is very little left of the Bear Butte Inn after a fire broke out Thursday morning.

Authorities say the fire broke out around 4:29 a.m. Thursday and the building caught fire when the crew arrived.

Sioux Falls police are investigating whether there is a link between two reports of Thursday’s shootings.

Lt. John Thom said witnesses described a black SUV in both reports of gunshots. Police chased a black SUV on 12th Street on Thursday night, but the car drove at high speed and the police ended their pursuit.

Boys’ basketball coach Mitchell Todd Neuendorf resigned as coach on Friday.

Neuendorf has served as head coach for the past four years, rebuilding the Kernels boys’ basketball program and leading the team to the state championship this season for the first time since 2012.
