Altrusa International Art Fair presents D51 artists

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) – The Art Center of Western Colorado (TAC) hosted the Altrusa International Art Fair, which debuted earlier in the week.

On Saturday, they held an awards ceremony starting at 10:00 a.m. and lasting until 3:00 p.m. The fair included juried work created by students of all ages from Mesa County D51 Schools. This was the 61st consecutive year that the Altrusa International Art Fair was held at TAC. The exhibition features a wide range of mediums ranging from photography, sculptures, multimedia pieces, paintings, etc.

About 480 pieces were submitted this year and 33 blue ribbons and 30 red ribbons were awarded to middle school artists and 32 blue and 30 red ribbons to middle school participants. Nola Daily, representative of the Altrusa Art Fair, spoke about the art presented this year:

It is truly amazing the quality of work coming from our children. The judges we seek to judge the show are all professional artists who are always amazed at the unexpected caliber of work. I always look forward to next year and what the students will produce.

Altrusa provided external judges to evaluate and award students whose works exemplified outstanding achievement in their particular field. The exhibit is spread over most of the Art Centers exhibition space, being one of the largest presented in the space each year. The Altrusa Art Show will run from April 9th to 29th.
