Beaumont Health Launches COVID-19 Immunology Research
With the ever-increasing number of COVID-19 vaccines around Michigan, many are wondering how much immunity they can get with their injections.
Beaumont Health has published a research study called the COVID-19 vaccination-induced response. This study will monitor participants’ immunity for two years. According to a news release, the purpose of this study is to find out how people develop vaccine-induced antibodies.
“The more people we know about the vaccine response, the more we can protect ourselves from COVID-19,” said Gabriel Maine, principal investigator and immunologist. “We are particularly interested in people with weakened immunity because we are some of the most vulnerable to the potentially catastrophic effects of COVID-19.”
According to a news release, the study included the first 1,000 applicants, 500 immunodeficiency patients, and 500 immunodeficiency patients. However, to qualify, all participants must be given within 30 days of receiving the first dose or within 7 days of enrolling in the study.
Participants only need a series of blood draws and 7-8 visits to the Royal Oak or Troy’s Beaumont location. Participants will be paid for travel and time.
