More monoclonal antibody treatments available in southern Alabama
South Alabama Health University is currently conducting monoclonal antibody therapy at its Mobile Civic Center to increase access to the community.
Extensions to treatment programs are in collaboration with the Alabama Department of Public Health and the US Department of Health and Welfare.
The new location is a 10-chair unit at the Mobile Civic Center, where USA Health will be able to treat up to 70 patients per day. release..

Prior to this expansion, USA Health provided patients with monoclonal antibody infusions at several additional locations.
“Low vaccination rates and delta variants continue to be obstacles in the fight against COVID-19,” said Dr. Scott Harris of the ADPH State Health Department in the release. “The launch of this antibody therapy center will give USA Health and HHS additional access to this life-saving treatment, which is essential to stop the progression of the disease in these vulnerable patients.”
Monoclonal antibodies are a one-time treatment for patients infected with COVID-19. It has proven to be very effective in neutralizing the virus and preventing exacerbations. According to USA Health, this therapy reduced the risk of hospitalization or death for patients in clinical trials by up to 70%.
Treatment is completed in less than an hour and is provided regardless of health insurance coverage, immigration status and solvency.
