Otawa County Health Authority Confirms Cases of Six Omicron Variants
Ottawa County, Michigan — The first confirmed case of the Omicron variant was detected in Ottawa County.
Health officials said in a news release that six cases were confirmed by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Tuesday based on tests collected between December 17 and 21.
Three of the six residents with the Omicron variant completed the primary COVID-19 vaccination series, while the other three were unvaccinated. According to MDHHS, no one received a booster shot.
The Otawa County Public Health Service has not confirmed that any individual is hospitalized.
Health officials expect this variant to dominate Otawa County in the coming weeks.
