Indian doctor plans world’s first uterine transplant for trans women

Indian doctors are planning the world’s first uterine transplant to a transgender woman born as a man.

Dr. Narendra Kausik from New Delhi will perform surgery at his sex reassignment surgery, Olmec Clinic, in the capital of India.

The organs come from either a dead donor or a woman whose uterus has been removed in the process of becoming a man.

Surgery, which could be the first successful surgery of this kind, has paved the way for people born as men to have children through in vitro fertilization.
