Beaumont says the new COVID-19 test can detect viruses in saliva, urine, and blood within 30-45 minutes

Lamb said the test could be used for screening at critical times in nursing homes, nursing homes, cruise ships, naval vessels, schools and prisons.
“Because this is an existing test, it’s optimistic with the right resources and could be widely used in a month or so,” Lam said.
Officials are looking for corporate sponsors to fund the development, said Dr Michael Chancellor.
According to Beaumont Health, the most accurate test results available today take more than 24 hours to process, and those tests are expensive for some hospitals and clinics.
Lamb and Chancellor previously came up with a rapid Zika virus detection test about three years ago, said Beaumont health officials.
“It just shows how work in one area can start research in another area,” Chancellor said.
Lamb said the detection test was based on recommendations from Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since 1984.
