16 cases of swine flu occur in Nagpur, Maharashtra
The city of Nagpur, Maharashtra, reported 16 cases of influenza A (H1N1) or swine flu, the Nagpur Municipal Authority (NMC) said Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) states that testing for swine flu cases is free in the city.
Citizens’ groups have announced that tests will be conducted at all TMC health centers in Tane, as swine flu cases continue to increase in the city.
However, people who are tested for swine flu will need the advice of a doctor, Sain citizens’ group said.
In Tane, 20 people tested positive for swine flu this month and 15 patients recovered. According to the release, two people were killed.
Citizens’ groups have completed a survey of houses in the area where swine flu patients were found, and no new cases were found, according to a press release.
By July 25, this year, a total of 62 swine flu cases had been detected in the Mumbai Circle, according to health officials. This circle also includes the Tane, Pargal and Reigad districts.
By July, seven people had died from swine flu infections in Maharashtra, according to a report from the Maharashtra Department of Public Health.
Meanwhile, the Mizoram government has sought help from the central government to compensate pig farmers who killed pigs during the African swine fever (ASF) outbreak, the minister said Tuesday.
The highly contagious disease continued to attack pigs in Mizoram, killing more than 42,300 pigs and piglets since March last year.
He said the state government is also taking steps to indemnify farmers who have lost pigs in African swine fever.
A new outbreak of African swine fever has killed a total of 8,907 pigs and piglets since February, according to data released by the state’s Livestock and Veterinary Department on Tuesday.
