New Brunswick Public Health issues exposure notice after measles case confirmed in Moncton

Following the confirmation of a case of measles in Moncton, New Brunswick Public Health has issued a list of times and places people may have been exposed to the contagious disease.
The case is likely the result of recent international travel, the Department of Health said in a news release Friday night.
The announcement did not say what country the patient had recently traveled from or how old he or she was.
The list of exposure locations includes:
- Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport in Montreal, July 20, from 11:20 a.m. to 3:35 p.m.
- Air Canada Flight 1550 from Montreal to Fredericton on July 20th.
- Arrivals at Fredericton International Airport on July 20 between 2:20 p.m. and 5 p.m.
- The emergency department at Stella Maris de Kent Hospital in Sainte-Anne-de-Kent, New Brunswick, between 5:30 p.m. on July 22 and 2:30 a.m. on July 23.
Public health officials plan to contact individuals who were at the hospital during the potentially infectious time period, the release said.

Public Health advises people who may have been exposed to the virus to check their vaccination records or contact their health care provider if they are unsure of their vaccination status.
“If you or someone you know was in those locations during that time period, it is important to self-monitor for symptoms of measles,” Regional Medical Officer of Health Dr. Rita Gadd said in the release.
If you have symptoms, don't go to the emergency room: Public Health
Early symptoms of measles may include fever, cough, sore or red eyes, runny nose and small white spots inside the mouth, according to the statement.
Within three to seven days, a red, blotchy rash first appears on the face and then spreads to the body, arms, and legs.
“If you have any of these symptoms, it is important that you self-isolate and contact Telecare 811 by phone,” Gad said.
“Do not go to clinics, doctor's offices or emergency rooms. Be sure to contact Telecare 811 so that necessary measures can be taken to prevent infection to others.”
The Ministry of Health said New Brunswick Public Health is working with the Public Health Agency of Canada and Quebec public health authorities on possible cases of transmission outside of New Brunswick.
Measles is preventable with a vaccine, and most people are protected against it with two doses, the ministry said.
In New Brunswick, vaccines to prevent measles, mumps, rubella and chickenpox will be available free of charge to infants aged 12 to 18 months, the Ministry of Health said.
Additionally, anyone born after 1970 who has never previously received both doses of the vaccine can still contact their health care provider to get vaccinated.
According to the agency, the measles virus is transmitted through the air or through direct contact with nasal or throat secretions from an infected person.
“Measles can become more severe in adults and infants and can lead to complications,” the ministry said.
“All residents are urged to consider getting vaccinated as the best way to protect themselves and their families from measles and other vaccine-preventable diseases.”

Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless.
