Lake County, Florida – Lake County students, teachers, and staff who tested positive for the coronavirus or were exposed to the virus announced on Monday that the quarantine period would be shorter.
Last week, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention changed its COVID-19 recommendations, reducing quarantine time from 14 days to 10 days. An LCPS official said in a news release that the Lake County Health Department also approved the change.

However, school district officials have said that students and employees with severe illness or immunodeficiency may need to be quarantined for 20 days at the recommendation of a doctor.
According to the district, persons notified of close contact with COVID-19 cases may undergo a PCR test 6 days after contact and may leave the quarantine 7 days after a negative test result. If the quarantine shows symptoms, you can also have a PCR test on the 6th day of the quarantine. If the test is negative, you can return to work or school after 7 days.
If these individuals choose not to be tested, they can return after 10 days unless symptoms appear.
