More than one-third of county residents are vaccinated with COVID-19
According to the Uvalde Health Authority website, about 35.4% of Uvalde county residents over the age of 16 are currently vaccinated. The Texas Department of Health estimates that there are approximately 20,400 residents of Uvalde County over the age of 16.
UHA collaborates with Uvalde Memorial Hospital and volunteers, including members of the Southwest Texas Junior College medical program, to hold weekly mass vaccination clinics at the Willy Deleon Civic Center, with approximately 21,000 vaccinations.
Almost 9,000 people who have been vaccinated, including visitors outside the town, are now fully vaccinated.
By Monday, the Texas Department of Health expects an increase in vaccine supply, so all adults are eligible to be vaccinated with COVID-19.
DSHS is also tracking cases of COVID-19 variants in the state. It spreads more easily and can cause more serious illness, and there are currently about 502 known cases. According to DSHS, current evidence shows that available vaccines are effective in protecting people from the serious illnesses caused by coronavirus mutants.

In Yuvalde, there were 3,381 confirmed cases as of Friday, an increase of 14 from the total of 3,3367 cases reported on Wednesday.
The number of possible cases remains 119. Approximately 32 new positive cases have been reported in the last two weeks, with the latest new positive cases reported on Thursday.
There were 68 deaths of county residents due to COVID-19.
