Coronavirus deaths decrease in Sarasota-Manatees from March to April

According to the Florida Department of Health, Sarasota and Manatees counties reported 83 new cases of coronavirus on Monday, May 3. Two new deaths have been reported.

51 deaths were reported in both counties in April, 88 in March, 212 in February and 185 in January.

The two counties averaged 160 new cases per day last week and two new deaths per day during the same period.

Thirty-one new cases have been reported in Sarasota County, for a total of 32,576 cases since the outbreak of the pandemic. No new deaths have been reported. 812 Sarasota County residents died of COVID-19.

Manatee County has added 52 new cases of coronavirus, for a total of 38,355. Two new deaths have been reported. 668 manatees have died in COVID-19.

Florida reported 3,075 new cases of coronavirus on Monday. The total number of infections in the state is 2,245,853. 39 new COVID-19 deaths were also reported throughout the state. 35,307 Florida residents died of COVID-19 during a pandemic.

Newly reported deaths have not necessarily occurred in the last 24 hours.

According to DOH as of Monday morning, 237,013 residents of Sarasota County and 170,057 residents of Manatee County have been vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine.
