Watch at 2:30 pm-Health and Welfare COVID-19 Media Briefing
The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare discussed the status of COVID-19 in Gemstate.
Boise, Idaho — The Idaho Ministry of Health (IDHW) held a weekly media briefing to discuss the status of COVID-19 at Gemstate on Tuesday at 2:30 pm.
Officials said they were pleased to see the numbers declining, but still said the daily number of cases was too high.
“I’m cautiously optimistic that things are better. It looks like I’m feeling better, less stressed in the hospital, and fewer cases.” Elke Shaw-Tulloch, Director of Public Health. “I’m feeling better, but I’m paying attention to the fact that there are still places to watch.”
At the last meeting, DHW officials Data is on the decline For routine cases, it is still very high compared to the cases reported at the beginning of the pandemic.
“Some communities in Idaho still have a high rate of illness and hospitalization. In these areas, to take precautions such as vaccination, wearing a mask at the right time, and keeping a social distance. “We really need to be careful,” Shaw-Tarlock said, “all of these are very useful means of continuing to mitigate the effects of COVID-19 in the state.”
IDHW officials say they will continue to work with the CDC to inform the public about further changes.
“Our goal is always to provide the most accurate information in the most understandable way possible,” said Dave Jepsen, director of IDHW.
Approximately two years after the COVID-19 pandemic, Idaho’s new daily number of cases surged to its highest level since the state’s first case was confirmed at the end of January.
According to IDHW, Idaho’s PCR positive rate was a record high of 32.0% in the week of January 23-29. During the week of January 30th to February 5th, the positive test rate dropped to 25.1%. It was 10.0% from February 13th to 19th last week.
IDHW is currently working to provide more access and public awareness of the availability of COVID treatment.
“As the number of cases declines, as you can imagine, demand is declining,” said state epidemiologist Dr. Christine Hahn. We still have a shortage of products, and we feel that we are becoming able to meet the needs that are there. “
IDHW confirmed on Tuesday, February 15th: Crisis standard of care was disabled In three health districts in Idaho. Crisis care standards everywhere in Idaho are no longer valid, but high test-positive rates still remain, so “we haven’t left the forest yet,” Jepsen said.
On Monday, February 28, 1,297 new cases and 21 new deaths were reported in Idaho. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, Idaho has reported 4,751 COVID-related deaths and a total of 426,164 possible confirmed cases.
