Chinese Leader Xi Jinping meets former Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong
Chinese President Xi Jinping met the former Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loongstate broadcaster CCTV reported.
The former Singapore leader, who met Xi in March last year in Beijing, is on his first visit to China since he resigned as prime minister in May. His six-day trip, which ends Friday, also includes stops in Suzhou and Shanghai.
On Monday, Lee, who is now Singapore's chief minister, met with Deputy Prime Minister He Lifeng in Suzhou and is also expected to meet Wang Huning, the No. 4 leader of the Communist Party, during his stay in Beijing.

Singapore enjoys relatively warm relations with China, which is its main trading partner, while maintaining a strong security partnership with the United States.
Last year, Singapore and China improved their free trade agreement, and in February they agreed to grant each other's citizens visa-free entry for 30 days.
During their previous meeting in Beijing, Xi described the relationship between the two countries as “forward-looking” and a benchmark for countries in the region.
