The coronavirus attacks many counties in eastern Alabama little by little every day. The number of deaths from COVID-19 increased in the middle of the week in the region due to a surge in the number of new COVID-19 cases the day before Thanksgiving.

The Alabama Public Health Service (ADPH) has confirmed the deaths of one virus in Chambers County, one in Lee County, two in Macon County, and one in Tallapoosa County since Tuesday. There were 3,240 confirmed deaths and an estimated 332 deaths in Alabama on Friday.

Of the 3,240 reported deaths in Alabama, 42 were in Chambers County, 52 in Lee County, 18 in Macon County, 3 in Russell County, and 89 in Tallapoosa County. Of the 332 estimated deaths, 8 are from Chambers County, 14 from Lee County, 4 from Maekon County, and 2 from Tallapoosa County, according to ADPH.

ADPH reported 41 new cases of the virus in Chambers County, 74 cases in Lee County, 8 cases in Macon County, 8 cases in Russell County, and 22 cases in Tallapoosa County on Wednesday.

The number of new cases reported at Thanksgiving was significantly lower than the total number of cases reported on Wednesday. ADPH identified 1 new COVID-19 case in Chambers County, 16 cases in Lee County, 1 case in Macon County, 2 cases in Russell County, and 3 cases in Tallapoosa County.

At the East Alabama Medical Center, the number of COVID-19 patients admitted on Wednesday and Thursday decreased, but increased on Friday.
