Surface of British Coronavirus Strain in Riverside County
Health officials in Riverside County have identified the first case of a highly contagious coronavirus variant identified in the United Kingdom in the region.
The UK stock, known as B.1.1.7, is so contagious that health officials are worried that its spread could lead to another surge in Southern California. The strain has also been detected in the counties of Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, San Bernardino, Alameda, San Mateo, and Yolo.
