Andy Reid is confident Marquise Brown's speed will benefit the Chiefs' offense

The Kansas City Chiefs are focused on improving their quality of play at the wide receiver position ahead of the 2024 season. Signing Marquise Hollywood Brown at the start of free agency is an important step toward resolving some issues that plagued the group last season.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is in Florida this week for the NFL annual meetings. According to Jeff Kerr of CBS Sportshe discussed the signing of Brown and his potential impact on the offense.

“I think Marquise gives you that element of speed on the outside, or inside, for that matter,” Reid explained. “He played every position. I think he's a smart kid. He will complete with Rashee [Rice] and Trav [Travis Kelce] GOOD.”

In 2023, the Chiefs' receivers suffered from too many drops and unforced errors, leading many to criticize personnel choices. During his rookie season, Rice emerged as a burgeoning star on the offense, and Brown could be the proven veteran he needed alongside him in the receiver room.

“I have to see how he’s doing. I think his main goal is to stay healthy. This has been a problem so far,” Reid said. “He seems to be in great shape. He is in a good state of mind.

Brown has a reputation for making big plays and has the personality to fit in with the many characters in the Chiefs locker room. Coaches, players and fans have good reason to be excited about their chances of winning a treble.
