Three men who rode high-speed bikes inspired by the Bollywood film 'Dhoom” for theft, were arrested by the police, an official said today.

Ashraf (23), Taufiq (24) and Istekar (22) used to rob people and then escape on bikes, he added.

“On April 10, information was received that a notorious thief, Ashraf, was in the Johripur area of ​​Delhi. Several raids were carried out in the area and in Loni, Uttar Pradesh. Three robbers – Ashraf , Taufiq and Ishtikar – were arrested two motorcycles, including a Yamaha R15, used in the crimes, were also recovered,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Amit Goel said.

The accused revealed during interrogation that Nazakat Ali alias KTM was their gang leader, he added.

The accused would arrive on motorbikes, snatch valuables from passers-by on the road and then flee at high speed, he said.

The arrest helped solve 26 cases of theft and kidnapping registered in Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad in the last fortnight, police said.

The three men were changing clothes on their bikes to confuse police and eyewitnesses, Mr. Goel said, adding that efforts were on to identify and arrest the gang leader.
