Actor Alec Baldwin hits anti-Israel protesters on phone after being heckled at New York cafe
Alec Baldwin was filmed punching the phone of a protester who approached him at a New York cafe.
The video footage was later shared on social media and filmed for an anti-fascist show called Crackhead Barney and his friends. In the clip, the person behind the camera repeatedly asks the actor to say “Free Palestine.”
Instead, a visibly annoyed Baldwin asked a staff member to call the police and refused to respond amid repeated demands from protesters, which included F*** Israel, F**** Zionism, please say so.
She also referred to the Rust filming a movie set, for which Baldwin faces criminal charges. Why did you kill this lady? You killed this lady and you didn't get any jail time.
She kept shouting, Alec, can you please say Free Palestine once. Free Palestine, Alec, just once and I'll leave you alone. I'll leave you alone, I swear, just say once Palestine is free.
A staff member attempted to defuse the situation, before Baldwin walked to the cafe door and asked the protester to leave. Can you do me a small favor, he said before smacking his phone and knocking it out of his hand.
THE Daily Mail has reached out to Baldwins representatives for comment on the incident.
The criminal trial of the actors for Rust Filming will begin on July 10, after a grand jury indicted him on involuntary manslaughter charges in January of this year.
Baldwin, 66, has pleaded not guilty to the charge. His lawyers are asking the judge to dismiss the indictment against him and have accused prosecutors of unfairly stacking the cards against him, AP Reports.
In March, armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who worked on the set of Rust, was sentenced to 18 months in prison after being found guilty of manslaughter. She is the first crew member to be convicted for the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
In a public filing released this month, it was claimed that Baldwin was inattentive during firearms training during filming and was frequently heard yelling and swearing during production before filming.
He pleaded not guilty on January 31 and will be tried in July.
