Actor lost money to cyber fraudster for second time in less than four months | News from India

An officer from the Oshiwara police mentioned that the actor's wife looked at his text messages on his mobile phone and observed an OTP notification. “She immediately logged into Netbanking and noticed that Rs 4.98 lakhs had been debited from the joint account despite not sharing any details. The situation is unique as the fraudster managed to transfer the funds without the actor’s wife sharing any confidential banking information or OTP,” the officer said.
In December 2023, Bedi was cheated of Rs 85,000 by an individual who falsely claimed to be a member of the Army and expressed interest in purchasing his Pune apartment worth Rs 87 lakhs. The individual asked Bedi to transfer the funds under the pretext of transferring double the amount, citing restrictions on direct fund transfers from an army account. Oshiwara police filed a complaint on December 30 after Bedi discovered he had been cheated.
