Men's tennis No. 38 falls out of SAC tournament

SUMTER, South Carolina – The Lenoir-Rhyne men's tennis team had its SAC tournament run cut short with a 4-2 loss to No. 30 Carson-Newman in the quarterfinals.

The match started well for the Bears as they won two of the three doubles lines to earn the first point of the day. After losing doubles match No. 2, LR rebounded to first place with a 7-5 victory led by Vadym Rogynsky And Rufus plane.

To get the first point of the match, Connor Donley And Duke Nevio won on the No. 3 line in a 7-6 tiebreak victory. The LR duo prevailed in the tiebreaker, winning 7-3, which gave the Bears the early advantage going into singles.

Despite the momentum from an exciting round of doubles, the Bears were unable to translate their success to singles. The only match in which LR was able to prevail was the fourth place match, where Plane fought his way to a 6-1, 6-2 result.

In the singles section of the match, Carson-Newman won three of her four lines in straight sets. The only three-set match was a Marnix Van Dalen 2-6, 6-1, 6-1 victory for the Eagles on the No. 1 line.

With the loss, the Lenoir-Rhyne men's tennis team finishes with a 10-7 record that includes a 7-5 conference mark. This is also the fourth straight SAC Tournament where the Bears have made it to the quarterfinals.
