LSU Textile & Costume Museum to Feature Work of Louisiana Fashion Legend Geoffrey Beene | Entertainment/Life
The works of Geoffrey Beene will be featured in the LSU Textile & Costume Museum's exhibition, “Coming Home: Geoffrey Beene,” which will open with a reception at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 5.
LSU's Textile and Costume Museum, located in the Human Ecology Building at 330 Tower Drive, will open “Coming Home: Geoffrey Beene,” with a reception from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, May 5.
The exhibit runs through Jan. 24 and features the work of the Haynesville native, who has become a legend of American fashion design. Beene has won eight Coty Awards and two Council of American Fashion Designers awards during his 40-year career.
This retrospective exhibition features the collection of Sylvia R. Karasu, which includes clothing from the 1960s to the early 2000s, complemented by fashion sketches.
Regular gallery hours are 10 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. First Sunday of each month 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Free entry.
The parking lot behind the Human Ecology building is temporarily closed due to construction crews working on adjacent buildings. Museum visitors will need to park on nearby streets or in the Barnes and Noble parking lot one block away on Highland Road.
