Bangladeshs Muhammad Yunus says very important to see China as a good friend

Bangladesh's acting chief advisor Muhammad Yunus said he was “important” for his country to see China as a good friend and that he expects links between Dhaka and Beijing to enter a new phase when he finished his four -day visit to China on Saturday.

“Our relationship has been very strong over the years. Our company is very strong and we benefit from our collaboration with China, ”said Yunus.

“Hong Lei, deputy minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and also Director of the Protocol of Chinese President Xi Jinping, sees Yunus on Saturday at Beijing Capital International Airport at the end of his four -day official visit to China,” said a position on X by the official handle of Yunus.

After his visit to China, Yunus should visit Thailand to participate in the Bimstec top. He asked for a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but India has not yet confirmed it.

In his talks with XI, Yunus urged China to play a greater role in the establishment of peace, prosperity and stability of the two nations.

A joint declaration published after the talks of Xi-Yunus said that Bangladesh had welcomed Chinese companies to participate in the Complete Management and Restoration Project of Teesta River (TRCMRP).

Given the sensitivities of New Delhi, the government of Sheikh Hasina previous wanted India to carry out the project of the Teesta river basin.

Yunus underlined the mass demonstrations of the students of July-August from last year to Bangladesh leading to the eviction of the Hasina government in its discussions with XI, adding that the student movement opened a way to build a new Bangladesh.

After Yunus speaks with XI, the two countries have signed nine agreements improving economic and technical cooperation between the two governments and cooperation in the fields of development, translation and publication of classical literary work, exchanges and cooperation on cultural heritage.

Bangladesh and China have also agreed to strengthen cooperation in fields such as hydrological forecasts, flood prevention and disaster reduction, river dredging, integrated water resources management, water resources development and related technologies.

In the interview that Yunus gave to Xinhua, Yunus said that nearly 1,000 Chinese companies operating in Bangladesh. “Imports from Bangladesh from China is increasing. Most of our products for industrial use come from China ”.

For the future, Yunus highlighted the economic complementarities between the two countries and their enormous potential for cooperation.

He also launched for growing cooperation in the health sector between Bangladesh and China to reduce high flow rates of Bangladesh patients in India for medical treatment.

Recently, the first group of Bangladian patients, doctors and travel agencies went to Kunming in the Chinese province of Yunnan for medical examinations and treatments, exploring the potential for medical tourism.

Meanwhile, the press under-secretary of chief advisor Abul Kalam Azad Majumder said that China had planned to operate Chittagong flights to Kunming to allow the people of Bangladesh to go to China to seek Maladie Insurance instead of India.

China has devoted four Kunming hospitals for the treatment of Bangladian patients, but the high cost of the air ticket remains a major obstacle to the Chinese city, reported the state managed by the state, the Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS).

Chinese authorities have declared that they would open more health establishments in the country for the Bangladais people, said the BSS, adding: “In April, Bangladesh would also send a large team of journalists in Kunming to see the treatment facilities there.”
