Terrapins Defeat Rutgers 4-1 – University of Maryland Athletics
COLLEGE PARK, MD- The No. 52 Maryland Terrapins defeated Rutgers 4-1 at the Terps on Saturday, the first of two games.
Selma Cadar And Tilt Liu opened the match with a 6-3 victory in the No. 2 doubles match. #60Menorca Miranda And Maria Budin followed by winning the No. 1 doubles match 6-2, securing the doubles point for Maryland and a 1-0 lead heading into the singles.
Maryland extended their lead in singles, ranking #66 Selma Cadar winning the No. 1 singles match 6-4, 6-1. Tilt Liu followed by Cadar winning her third straight singles match, extending the Terps' lead to 3-0 and winning the No. 3 singles match 6-3, 6-1.
Rutgers got on the board and won the No. 6 singles match to make it 3-1.
Maria Budin closed the door on the Terps, winning the No. 4 singles match in a hard-fought 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 victory.
With the win over Rutgers, Maryland improves its home record to 9-1.
