Google tests news link removal, Airbus takes big step forward in March

Google has started removing California news websites from some people's search results, a test that comes after the state's legislature passed a law requiring the search giant to pay media companies for links to their content. It acted as a threat.

Google announced the move in a blog post on Friday, calling it a “short-term test with a small group of users… to measure the law's impact on our product experience.” The company also announced that it will pause new investments in the California news industry, including media partnership initiatives and product licensing programs.

California lawmakers are considering a bill that would require tech giants like Google, Facebook and Microsoft to pay media companies a percentage of their advertising revenue for links to their content. How much companies will have to pay will be decided through an arbitration process by a panel of three judges.

Airbus makes significant progress

Airbus delivered more than twice as many commercial jets as Boeing in March, but the U.S. aerospace giant slowed in efforts to contain quality problems at its 737 Max assembly plant in Renton, Washington.

Adding to Boeing's woes, the company did not deliver a single wide-body 777 in the first three months of the year due to other supply chain issues.

Airbus delivered 63 jets last month, while Boeing delivered just 29, according to data released last week.

Boeing's tally included 24 Max planes. However, eight of the planes were sent to Chinese airlines and were likely taken from a large warehouse of 737s where they had been parked since they were grounded in 2019.

By contrast, Airbus delivered 51 Max-competing A320neo jets, more than half of which were the largest A321neo model.
