Pioneer in progress: from Wednesday April 1, there is IO-TV, our own online channel

Never lose a good fit. Innovation Origins takes this to heart and will start – perhaps a little against the trend – with our own online TV channel: IO-tv. This Wednesday, at 4 p.m., we will launch the station. Inspiration for this initiative comes from the many organizations, educational institutions and businesses that have successfully shifted much of their business from “real” to online in recent weeks.

Hans Meeske (Holland Innovative) is one of them; his encouragement gave us the ultimate push:

“This period offers us the opportunity to start working differently. I believe it can change our lives, but only if we act now. There is no reason to wait. “

Kick-off is scheduled for next Wednesday, with the broadcast of Drinks, pitches and demos, the monthly event of the innovative ecosystem to keep each other informed of the latest developments and help each other in the next steps. DP&D will start at 5 p.m., preceded by our own introduction at 4 p.m.

We want IO-TV to become the channel for people who want to know how things can be improved, for themselves and for the world. With inspiring examples, helpful advice, insightful expert lessons and understandable explanations of essential developments, we will ensure that people can develop and thus their immediate environment, their business, their lives. The tone is optimistic – as you would expect from us – and shows how important people are who want to think, pioneer, develop relevant things and want to do it all together with others.

IO-tv uses the technology present on everyone’s laptop and smartphone. In this way, we can keep costs under control, but at the same time increase accessibility. There is no subscription or separate access, the programs can be followed via Innovation Origins, the station’s partners and the media channels. Youtube, Facebook, Twitter and Tic. For live broadcasts, we use Riverside.fm.

The director of the IO-tv station is Aafke Eppinga, known to our regular visitors for her. bike tour focused on innovative startups on the west coast of Europe and dozens of “explainers“She did it for IO. She runs the station with Elcke Vels, who is in charge of the editorial process and is also known to our explanators. The entire team of Innovation Origins takes charge of the production of IO-tv.

Experience

Anyone who wants to build an entire station in a week must accept that the feeling of experimenting is paramount. This will be visible in the programs, in the duration of the programming, in the probably frequent adaptations and in the flexibility with which we will have to choose solutions to unexpected problems. Not all of our plans and ideas will be realized in week 1. Even the name – for now, it’s IO-tv – could still change.

When we are in full swing, the programs will mainly be broadcast between 12 noon and 7 p.m., but nothing will prevent us from deviating from them, for example for a live event in the evening. So keep an eye on the “program brochure” on Innovation Origins (soon on our home page). And of course, you can also watch the shows again later. So what to expect?

The partners

The heart of IO-tv will consist of programs that come directly from what Innovation Origins already does. Think of technical explaners, live events, but also live interviews where viewers can join the show with their questions. But many programs come from our partners at this station. Think of workshops, courses, conferences and interesting portraits of people from the innovative ecosystem. The Fontys University of Applied Sciences takes part in various initiatives (such as centers of expertise for the circular economy and high-tech systems and materials, but also ICT and economics and communication), TU Eindhoven is there, the Eindhoven library, HighTechXL, Brainport Development, Station88, Holland Innovative and fast targets and space for innovation. Naturally, many other parts will follow – we are open to anyone who supports the core mission of IO-tv.

We are going to be pioneers, now is the right time. Are we going to succeed? We’ve never done it before, so I’m sure we will …
