Magnitude 4.3 earthquake rattles Southern California – NBC10 Philadelphia

An earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale occurred near Carson on Friday night and was felt in several cities across Southern California.

The US Geological Survey said the quake was reported at 7:58 p.m.

Initial reports indicated that the earthquake had a magnitude of 4.4, but it was later reduced to a magnitude of 4.3.

Following earthquake activity, the LAFD is, according to protocol, in earthquake emergency mode with fire department vehicles and helicopters patrolling 470 square miles to identify any damage or emergency needs.

They said there were no early reports of major damage or injuries in Los Angeles.

There have been 7,600 reports of shaking in the SoCal area.

A controlled ignition has occurred at the Marathon refinery in Carson, according to a Carson Sheriff’s station report.

A deputy said that no structural damage was reported at that site.
