Former Los Angeles board member Hull Branson, known as Earthquake Policy, has died at the age of 89

Los Angeles Public Prosecutor, Hale Branson, who served northwest of the San Fernando Valley for 24 years, said at the age of 89, the city’s attorney general, Mike Foyer, said on Tuesday.

As a relatively young member of the council, a few years after the 1971 Selmar earthquake, he pushed Princeton to retool thousands of the city’s oldest buildings. Seismic safety was not common in those days, but it did great fruit in Northridge, which happened to be in his area.

Princeton served on the city council from 1979 until he had to retire in 2003 due to time limits.

No other details were immediately available about his death and memorial services.
