In October 1972, a plane crashed in a remote part of the Andes, and a group of young rugby players survived for 72 days in the snow without any means of finding food. Dr. Roberto Jorge Canessa is a Uruguayan pediatric cardiologist and one of the 16 survivors of Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571. After two surviving players trekked for days, they found themselves without specialized equipment or clothing to receive help.
