A coroner has ruled that air pollution killed a 9-year-old girl in south London who died in an asthma attack in 2013. It is an absolute decision. While the risks of polluted air are well documented, Ella Adoo-Kissi -Debrah is the first person in the UK to have the effects of being exposed to pollution as a cause of death. The 9-year-old lived near South Circular Road – one of the busiest in London. He had multiple seizures in the three years leading up to his death and was admitted to hospital 27 times.
