A commercial rocket carrying seven satellites was “lost” after Sunday’s launch from a New Zealand launch pad, owner Rocket Lab said.

“I’m sorry we failed to deliver our customers’ satellites today. Make sure we find the issue, correct it and get back to the pillow quickly.”

Rocket Lab ranks itself as an American company headquartered in a completely New Zealand-owned branch and specializes in providing small satellites in low Earth orbit.

Its proponents include US companies Khosla Ventures, Bessemer Venture Partners, Lockheed Martin, Promus Ventures and Data Collective.

The failed mission, the company’s 13th load launch, was named “Pics Or It It Not Happen”.

In a statement on its website, Rocket Lab said it had experienced a four-minute “anomaly” in flight and was working closely with the Federal Aviation Administration in the United States to identify the cause.

The rocket held satellites for Spaceflight, Canon Electronics, Planets and Mission within space, Beck said.

“Today’s anomaly is a reminder that jumping into space may be unforgivable, but we will identify the issue, correct it, and be safe again as soon as possible.”
