Indian women’s schedule for Australia tour subject to change
Sydney, August 25: Media reports suggest that the schedule for the Indian women’s cricket team on Australia’s next tour may change due to border restrictions and the COVID-19 blockade in Sydney and Melbourne. ..
India and Australia will be competing in all three formats starting next month.
The schedule includes three One Day International, many Twenty20 International, and a historic day and night test match at the WACA Ground. The series will begin with the first ODI in Sydney on September 19th and will move to Melbourne and Perth afterwards.
“But with the ongoing blockades and state border closures in Sydney and Melbourne, that’s unlikely,” cricket.co.au reported.
“Cricket Australia is currently discussing with government officials when, where and how to play the seven games.
“… The schedule change for the seven games will be announced shortly,” the report added. Cricket Australia said it was monitoring the situation.
“Due to the current COVID challenges, Cricket Australia will continue to monitor the situation across the country and consider whether it is necessary to make decisions about rescheduling or moving matches,” he said last week.
The Indian team will leave for Australia on Sunday. According to Australia’s COVID-19 protocol, all international arrivals are required to be quarantined for two weeks.
If the match is scheduled in another state, Australian players must also be quarantined prior to the series. (PTI)
