Health officials in Montgomery County confirmed a third death from the hepatitis A outbreak on Thursday, but said the Italian restaurant at the center of the outbreak would reopen.
Norristown ―――― Health officials in Montgomery County confirmed a third death from the hepatitis A outbreak on Thursday, but said the Italian restaurant at the center of the outbreak would reopen.
More than two weeks ago, the Montgomery County Public Health Service “temporarily closed” Gino’s Ristorante & Pizzeria in West Norriton in connection with the outbreak of hepatitis A, which infected at least 10 people. According to the agency, seven of the cases confirmed in the laboratory were hospitalized.
The agency’s investigation concluded that the exposure occurred in late November and no longer poses a risk to the general public.

After the health inspector provided education on the necessary cleaning procedures, the department lifted the temporary closure of Gino’s Ristorante & Pizzeria on Thursday.
The restaurant owner provided a list of restaurant employees who worked during the exposure period and are expected to return to the restaurant after reopening. All listed employees have completed a self-test for hepatitis A and have been vaccinated against hepatitis A.
