Teacher dies after battling cold infection for about two years
Lexington, Kentucky (WKYT/Gray News) – A Kentucky teacher has died after a long battle with a cold-related infection.

Presley was a STEM teacher at Wellington Elementary School in Lexington, wife to Jeff, and mother to Jackson, 13, and Ella, 16.
A celebration of Presley's life will be held Saturday.
WKYT reported Presley, 46 at the time, was perfectly healthy until May 2022, when he came down with what appeared to be a cold. After a few days, she realized something was really wrong.
Within 30 minutes of being admitted to Baptist Health, Presley was placed on a ventilator and then placed in a medically induced coma.her husband was told she had parainfluenza It manifests as bronchitis. This caused her immune system to fail, and Presley developed a bacterial staph infection with pneumonia.
“Her lungs lit up like a volcano,” her husband said.
At that point, ventilators were useless. Presley was taken to a British hospital, where the only thing that kept her alive for 18 weeks was an ECMO machine. She was then taken to Northwestern Hospital in Chicago, where she underwent a double lung transplant and she spent 12 months away from her children.
