London has been named one of the rudest places in the UK.

The study, created by language learning platform Preply, focused on language and how it is used in different regions, as well as behavioral etiquette.

Many of us have been taught to be polite and courteous by using 'please' and 'thank you', but sometimes etiquette can slip through the cracks.

Preply used thousands of TripAdvisor reviews with keywords related to politeness, city safety scores, and cleanliness scores to figure out which areas need to improve their manners.

According to the study, London is the second least polite city in the UK, receiving an overwhelming overall score of 6/30 in the study.

London had the lowest politeness score of all regions, scoring a shocking 0/10 with just 4% of reviews for hotels, landmarks and attractions containing keywords related to politeness, and a disappointing 1/10 for safety. .

But the capital was not ranked as the rudest place overall, with northern powerhouse Manchester topping the list.

The area received a very low score of 3.6/30, with only 15% of TripAdvisor reviews praising the politeness of hotels, landmarks and attractions, with a politeness score of 1.5/10.

Manchester also achieved the second lowest Safety Index score in the report at just 0.6/10 and the fourth lowest Cleanliness score at 1.5/10.

Below London, the north-eastern wing of Sunderland was third, with an aggregate score of 8.6/30.

Interestingly, however, the city scored highly when considering politeness alone (7/10), with 34% of the reviews analyzed featuring polite keywords.

However, the overall score dropped slightly to 0.6/10 for safety and 1/10 for cleanliness.
