Judd Trump won his second UK Championship title with a closely fought 10-8 victory over Barry Hawkins at the Barbican in York.

Only Ronnie O'Sullivan, Stephen Hendry and John Higgins have won more than the 35-year-old's 30 ranking titles, but given his current dominance, the expectation for him is now to further his performance in Triple Crown events.

He is currently tied for 8th place on the all-time list with Alex Higgins.

But he had to endure a stirring fightback from Hawkins, who fought back from 9-6 to 9-8 and almost got the two snookers needed in a dramatic 18th frame to force a decider before Trump won.

“It was a really tough fight. Considering what happened yesterday, the way Barry fought today was just unbelievable,” Trump told BBC Sports.

“He made it too hard. He had a chance to step up and the game could have changed. I wasn't happy in that 9-8 spot. I just wanted it to be over.”
