Salman Khan fired: Bollywood star's father says he will continue working as usual
Bollywood star Salman Khan's father Salim Khan, speaking exclusively to India Today, said the actor will continue his schedule as usual, unaffected by the developments related to the shooting incident at his home in Mumbai.
Salim Khan said there was “nothing to fear” and “the matter is now a matter for the police”. He added that the Maharashtra government had ensured full protection to Salman Khan and his family.
Two persons – Vicky Gupta (24) and Sagar Pal (21) – opened fire at Salman Khan's home in Mumbai's Bandra on Sunday. They were arrested on Monday evening from Kutch, Gujarat, and police confirmed that the duo was linked to gangster Lawrance Bishnoi's group.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited the actor's residence on Tuesday and assured him of protection. Promising strict action against those involved in the firing, he also asked the Mumbai Police Commissioner to step up security for Khan and his family members.
“I assured Salman Khan that the government supports him and his safety is the responsibility of the government. The government will ensure that no one dares to commit such an act in Mumbai,” Shinde said.
According to police, five bullets were fired at Salman Khan's house, one of which hit the wall and another the gallery of Khan's residence. The preliminary investigation suggested that the dismissal was motivated by monetary considerations.
