Boat theft suspect dons dress and wig in attempt to disguise himself

LAKEPORT, Fla. (CBS12) A man is accused of stealing a boat after trying to evade arrest by disguising himself as a woman in Lakeport Wednesday.

The Glades County Sheriff's Office (GCSO) said shortly after 3 p.m., deputies were investigating a stolen boat found in the area of Old Calusa Lodge. As police searched the area, they saw Joshua Kolotka, 33, exit a residence dressed as a woman in an attempt to disguise himself.

Kolotka was apprehended by officers, according to the sheriff's office. A photo taken by deputies shows Kolotka wearing a short blonde wig, sunglasses and a patterned blue dress.

Many other items found at the scene may have been stolen from the same area, investigators said. The GCSO said it is also working alongside the Seminole Police Department to identify some of the stolen items.

Deputies arrested Kolotka on two outstanding warrants in Okeechobee County, as well as for the theft of a John Deere Gator utility vehicle and the stolen boat.

Koltka was held in the Glades County Jail without bail, awaiting transfer to Okeechobee County. His photo shows himself without disguise.
