Ma Ying-jeou responded that a new war between the two sides would constitute “an unbearable burden for the Chinese nation.” “Chinese people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait will definitely have enough wisdom to peacefully handle cross-Strait disputes and avoid conflicts,” he said.
