Imran Khan's wife Bushra Bibi 'demands' medical check-up following allegations of heartburn, sore throat

ISLAMABAD:Former First Lady of Pakistan Bushra Bibi on Monday filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) and appealed to the court for medical examination and tests at Shaukat Khanum Hospital or any another private hospital of his choice. examine whether she was poisoned by contaminated food, Dawn reported.

In her petition, Bushra Bibi said she suffered from heartburn, sore throat and mouth and believed this was the result of eating poisoned meals.

Additionally, she said she was poisoned and subjected to psychological torture at her Banigala residence, which was declared a sub-jail, according to Dawn.

Further, the petitioner alleged that the government was trying to eliminate her to put pressure on PTI founder Imran Khan. She also alleged that prison authorities installed closed-circuit cameras in her bathroom, which was a violation of her privacy, News International reported.

According to Dawn, the petitioner said she was not given enough time to meet with her family members and lawyers.

Bushra Bibi also requested his transfer to Adiala Prison, with a petition regarding the matter currently awaiting review by the IHC. Furthermore, she urged the authorities to ensure the protection of her fundamental rights.

In the Iddat case, plaintiff's lawyer Khawar Farid Maneka continued his arguments in favor of the conviction and sentence awarded to former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi.

Khan's lawyer Salman Akram Raja, meanwhile, urged the court to conclude the arguments of the plaintiff's lawyer Raja Rizwan Abbasi.

Raja accused Abbasi of applying delaying tactics in the matter.

During the proceedings, Abbasi read out the trial court's verdict and said the key witnesses in the case were Mufti Saeed, who celebrated Nikkah; Aun Chaudhry, witness to the Nikkah ceremony; and Latif, a servant of Khawar Maneka.

He said section 496-B (fornication) was added to the charges against Khan and his wife on Maneka's complaint, but the trial court deleted this offense while framing the charges.

He submitted that he would assist the trial court on Section 496 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and requested that the court adjourn the hearing till May. He said it would take him at least 4 to 5 hours to conclude the arguments.

Raja, on the other hand, pointed out that if the trial continues late in the day, arguments on the appeal against conviction could continue after normal court hours. He, however, asked Justice Shahrukh Arjumand to adjourn the hearing for just one day.

The judge responded that the courts remained closed during the Eid holiday and therefore he had a workload for the entire week. (ANI)
