Imran should face military trial, says Azma Bokhari – Pakistan

LAHORE: Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari has said that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan should face military trial.

The mastermind (Imran Khan) of May 9 should face military trial. The May 9 PTI suspects should be tried in military courts, the minister said at a press conference on Saturday.

She said statues of martyrs were broken and fighter jets were set on fire. Even he (Khan) had justified military trials, so why not for the May 9 suspects, she said, adding that PTI's aim was to create chaos as it was not interested in improvement of people's conditions and development.

Ms Bokhari said the PTI should know that courts could not be run through agreements.

We are the slaves, this will be the new slogan of the PTI which pins its hopes on Trump's victory to secure Khan's release, she said.

The minister lamented that the funds of the KP government, already in financial crisis, were now being used for the security of Imran Khan's family.

Bushra Bibi, Khan's wife, brought her own security from KP to Zaman Park.

Azma Bokhari highlighted a number of initiatives taken by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz after assuming power.

Maryam Nawaz has launched more than 80 initiatives in a year and all of them are being implemented, she said and added that a government cancer hospital in Lahore costing Rs 54 billion and with a capacity of 920 beds would be built where no patient would be denied treatment. She said the Punjab government would establish agricultural trade centers in four cities: Sahiwal, Sargodha, Bahawalpur and Multan.
