Tennessee football stars in EA Sports College Football 25 video game
It's football time on the PS5.
Knox News higher education reporter Keenan Thomas has a tough day at work today. His job, after getting his hands on an early copy of EA Sports College Football 25, is to lead Tennessee to victory and see how accurately the game developers can depict Neyland Stadium and the Volunteers.

EA Sports College Football 25 officially launches July 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X for $69.99. This is the first college football video game since 2013 and was made possible in part by NCAA rules that allowed players to monetize their name, image and likeness.
Thoughts on EA Sports College Football 25 ahead of the game's full launch
After playing the game today, higher education reporter Keenan Thomas and growth and development editor Ryan Wilusz would like to share some thoughts on EA Sports College Football 25 with you.
This is Keenan speaking. I haven't played a football game in a long time, but I still fondly remember the days of NCAA Football 2004 on the original Xbox.
I had a surprisingly good time playing the long-awaited comeback. The controls are easy to learn while offering opportunities to learn the more complicated elements, and the animations and graphics are probably the best they’ve ever seen, although the crowds and non-football players could do with some work.
The biggest surprise was how much detail went into the game. Even though we only played a few teams, Tennessee and North Carolina for our alma maters, we were shocked by how many little things the game got right.
The VOLS lettering in Neyland Stadium and the Bell Tower in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, were amazing to see. The game doesn’t capture everything, but every detail is a nice touch.
We weren't able to play a full season, but we had a great time in exhibition mode during our few hours of gameplay. If you don't mind spending $70, you'll definitely have a good time winning as the Vols.
However, we would like to see the return of the mascot mode.
Additional Tennessee Football Rivalries in EA Sports College Football 25
Alabama wasn't the only team we tried to beat in our early access preview of EA Sports College Football 25. The latest installment of the video game, 10 years in the making, features five teams that are considered rivals for the Volunteers.
The Alabama rivalry is accurately described as the third Saturday in October, while the Florida game is listed as the third Saturday in September. Other rival teams don't have the pleasure of their own rivalry name, but it's fun to run out the score no matter the circumstances.

We won the College Football National Championship! …in the video game
To make every Vols fan's dream come true, we've queued up the biggest game imaginable: Alabama vs. Tennessee in the national championship.
It was a heated battle. And by heated, we mean we defeated the Crimson Tide by a final score of 77-7. How did we do it? Deep passes, interceptions, going for it on fourth down, five sacks on the Alabama quarterback and a relentless drive that carried us down the field to put the final nail in Alabama's coffin.
The match lasted maybe 20 minutes total on an easy setting, but man, it felt great to win.
Six Volunteer Uniforms to Choose From in EA Sports College Football 25
The game features six standard uniforms with the option to customize what the Tennessee Volunteers wear on the field. However, fans will be disappointed to learn that there is one glaring omission, two if you include the alternate “Summitt Blue” uniform in the new football video game.

We added it up: Tennessee football’s virtual roster features 85 players, whose in-game skills are based on ratings in over 50 categories. Surprisingly, only one player has an overall score of at least 90, and that’s James Pearce Jr. (RE).

We took a break from playing to tour Neyland Stadium in instant replay mode. Game developers did a great job making the virtual version look like the real thing, and Some of the latest improvements to Neyland Stadium are shown.

Alabama vs. Tennessee identified as rivalry, but celebration missing
Matchups between Tennessee and Alabama are being branded as “The Third Saturday In October.” Notably, the cigar-smoking celebration after Tennessee leads the game is absent. However, fans do hold up their “VOL” hand signals while singing along to “Rocky Top” in pre-kickoff animations.
