Overview
In March 2021, the World Health Organization (WHO) produced interim guidance on best practices for conducting vaccine efficacy (VE) assessments in assessing the efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines: interim guidance, followed in July 2021 by an addendum addressing VE evaluation in context. of new variants of concern (VOCs). That guidance generally applies to conducting his VE assessment. Nonetheless, several factors have arisen in the last year that point to the need for his second addendum to the Interim Guidance. This includes lessons learned from the many VE assessments conducted to date, the weakening of protection, the emergence of Omicron, and populations with hybrid immunity. This appendix addresses some of the methodological aspects of his VE assessment that we have learned over the past year and those that have become relevant to the current epidemiological situation of the COVID-19 pandemic.
