Live Update: Umatilla County Coronavirus Case Spikes Linked to Ill Workers. news
Update (8:45 am PT) — As of Monday, there were 772 known cases of coronavirus in Umatilla County.

In eastern Oregon, there were 88 new known cases a day last week. It is one of eight counties in the state on the “watch list” for coronavirus infections.
Joseph Fiumala, director of public health in Umatilla County, told the Statesman Journal that people with mild symptoms had returned to work and that infections had surged.
“In most cases, people don’t think they have the virus,” Fiumala told the paper. “They think it’s an allergy. The symptoms are so small that they can work for a few days, such as a runny nose or a sore throat, and then get tested and return to positive.”
According to the Oregon Department of Health, Ramweston, a potato company in Umatilla County, has seen 72 coronavirus cases in workplace outbreaks.
Monday drop in COVID-19 case shows no trend
of Oregon Department of Health Monday reported 168 newly identified putative coronavirus diagnoses, bringing the state to 10395 known cases.
Oregon health officials have identified more than 300 new cases of coronavirus every day since Thursday. OHA said the number of cases fell on Monday, but it did not show a downward trend.
Dr. Melissa Sutton, senior health adviser at OHA, said Monday’s number of cases was “possibly outliers”. She continued: “I don’t expect a sudden reduction in the number of cases.”
“I hope the governor’s policy to cover the entire state will reduce the number of incidents over the next few weeks.”
Cases reported on Monday follow the milestone marked on Sunday, with more than 10,000 cases of coronavirus in Oregon.
Health authorities have not reported any new deaths associated with the coronavirus. There are 215 confirmed deaths from the virus in Oregon.
As of Monday, 183 were hospitalized with suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19, 26 of whom were on ventilators. Coronaviruses have led to 1,125 hospitalizations throughout the state during the pandemic.
More than 1,000 Clark County cases
Health officials in Clark County, Washington, currently report a total of 1,008 known cases of coronavirus. Weekend numbers include all cases reported to health authorities from Thursday to Sunday.
The county’s death toll was 29.
The Clark County application to move to Phase 3 of the Washington resumption process is pending. Governor Jay Inslee announced Thursday that he will have at least a two-week pause in response to the increase in the incident. The county remains Phase 2.
Latest data available from Washington Department of Health The state has 35,985 confirmed coronaviruses and 1,370 deaths. As of Monday, the coronavirus has led to 4,544 hospitalizations in Washington.
