Symptoms include indifference to the activities you normally enjoy, retreat from friends and loved ones, low energy levels, difficulty getting out of bed, especially meals such as sweets and starch. However, unlike depression, the symptoms of SAD do not persist all year round. Instead, they last about 4 out of 5 months, often beginning in late fall or early winter and lasting until summer.
