Councilor Havant urges people to donate plasma at the Battle of Covid after losing in connection with illness
Gary Robinson, three fathers who are members of Bed Hampton’s ward, tested positive for Covid-19 five months after her sister-in-law, 47, died of illness and left two children.
He recovered and donated plasma as part of an NHS trial to see if the antibodies produced in the fight against the virus could be transfused into sick patients. This is expected to help them recover faster.

A 39-year-old woman who lost her sister-in-law, Kirsty Robinson, to Covid in May said: It smelled and didn’t smell like my wife’s food.
“I booked a test at the Cranfield Center the next day and got a positive result the next day.
“I lost my sister-in-law in May, so I think I was a little worried when that happened.
“She was healthy and sick. I remember she told her brother that she would or wouldn’t see him in two weeks, and she didn’t.

“When I got it, I think I was waiting for it to hit, but I was fine except that it had no smell or taste.
“It’s a terrible virus and needs attention, but I think people are relieved to know in a way that not everyone has really serious symptoms.”
Cllr Robinson, a member of the Havant Borough Council, first donated plasma at the Hilton Hotel’s new donation center in Arundel, West Sussex.
The plumbing and heating business owner said:’When I went to the center, it was very quiet.
“The staff there were very kind to everything. The plasma machine is like a microwave oven, it takes blood, extracts the plasma and then puts it back.
“My plasma is said to help people who are fighting the virus on a ventilator recover.”
