Beaver County sees COVID-19 spikes
Health officials in Pennsylvania are urging families to avoid rallies during this holiday season as hospitals work on an unprecedented number of COVID-19s.
On Thursday, the state health department reported an additional 9,966 positive cases and 224 new virus-related deaths since March, bringing the state-wide total to 529,335 and 13,392, respectively. Over 58% of all COVID-19 deaths occur in long-term or personal care facilities.

In Pennsylvania, a total of 6,346 people are hospitalized with COVID-19. This is twice the peak in spring. Over 19% of patients hospitalized for the virus are in the intensive care unit. The state-wide positive rate for the week of December 4th to December 10th was 16.2%.
Dr. Rachel Levin, director of health at Pennsylvania, said Thursday that hospitals across the state continue to be overwhelmed by the number of COVID-19 patients. She urged residents to stay home and celebrate the coming holidays safely until the general public could be vaccinated.

The county reaches the second highest number of cases
Over the past seven days, 1,381 new cases have occurred in Beaver County, for a total of 6,894 cases.
There were 301 new COVID-19 cases in Beaver County on Thursday, 16 of which were possible, with the second highest number of daily cases reported since March.

More vaccines coming
Hospitals throughout the state began giving healthcare workers the COVID-19 vaccine this week, but Levine said it is likely to be late spring or early summer before vaccination is given to the general public. Said.
