408 new COVID cases, 23 deaths, 50,000 vaccinations – NBC Chicago

Illinois health officials reported on Wednesday 408 new confirmed and possible cases of coronavirus, another 23 died, and more than 50,000 new vaccines were given.

A total of 1,386,262 cases of coronavirus have been reported in the state since the pandemic began. With an additional 23 deaths reported Wednesday, the state confirmed 22,997 COVID deaths.

The state has conducted 41,758 tests in the last 24 hours, with more than 24.9 million tests performed during the pandemic.

The 7-day positive rate for all state tests has now dropped to just 1%, while the 7-day positive rate for individuals tested is 1.3%.

Over the last 24 hours, a total of 50,231 coronavirus vaccines have been given to state residents. According to IDPH data, this will bring an average of 45,852 inoculations per day for the state over the past seven days.

According to state officials, more than 51% of adults in the state are currently fully vaccinated with COVID-19, and more than 68% are vaccinated at least once.

Hospitalizations continue to decline at midnight, with only 797 patients currently hospitalized due to COVID in the state. Of these patients, 209 are in the intensive care unit and 109 are on ventilator.
