Kampala, Lome ready for 2024 African Regional Championships – Voice of Nigeria
Two African cities, Kampala and Lom, will come alive from April 22 to 27 as the Eastern and Western Regional Table Tennis Championships take center stage as qualifiers for the 2024 African Championships.
In Kampala, 41 men and 29 women from Comoros, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Rwanda, Sudan, Tanzania and host country Uganda will begin hostilities in four events (team and singles for men and women) from April 22 to 25. .
Also in Lom, the capital of Togo, from April 25 to 27, 32 men and 29 women from the Republic of Benin, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Guinea, Nigeria, Senegal and host country Togo will compete in four events (team- and singles for men and women).
West African champions Nigeria have decided to form a youth team consisting of national youth champion Matthew Kuti. Others are Abdulbasit Abdulfatai, Miuz Adegoke, Samuel Boboye and Matthew Fabunmi Mathew.
2023 women's singles finalist Ajoke Ojomu will lead the quartet of promising debutants Hope Udoaka Hope, Kabirat Ayooola, Aisha Rabiu and Ize Sezue into the three-day tournament.
