Veteran Kannada actor and comedian Shankar Rao breathes his last at 88 after long illness

It is a sad day for the Kannada industry which has lost one of its brightest and happiest stars. Famous actor and comedian Shankar Rao died at his home on Monday. He was 88 years old and hadn’t been feeling well for some time.

Shankar Rao has starred in over a hundred Kannada films alongside all popular heroes for over three decades. Some of the stars he has worked with include Vishnuvardhan, Shankar Nag, Anant Nag, Lokesh, Srinath, Dwarkeesh, Shivaraj Kumar, Ravichandran, Ramesh Arvind, Upendra, Puneeth Rajkumar and Darshan.

Closely associated with the scene, Shankar Rao made her sandalwood debut with the film ‘Yaara Sakshi’. He has also appeared in popular Kannada television series such as “Maya Mruga”, “Silli Lalli” and “Papa Pandu”.
